Kasteel (11%)

A high fermentation beer, with second fermentation in bottle and an extended rest in the cellars of the castle of Ingelmunster. The Kasteelbier Donker is a very powerful black beer (11%), with a creamy foam. Its aroma of toasted malt reminds us of fresh bread and fruit in syrup, suggesting that it is something to eat, rather than to drink. The sugars that are not transformed into alcohol, ie unfermented, result in a sweet, slightly caramelized and confectioned taste, and makes us think of a Port wine.

The Kasteelbier Donker is a beer to store and grow old, hence the custom of labeling the beer with the year of production.
